Job Description: Supports financial operations by analyzing costs, managing inventory, and assisting with month‑end close. Maintains capital project and fixed asset records, oversees sales tax reporting and vehicle registration compliance, and helps implement operational improvements like job order clocking. Provides backup support for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable while assisting with various financial projects.
Responsibilities:
- Update and maintain standard costs and calculate both labor and overhead rates.
- Conduct cost variance analysis and provide explanations.
- Perform cost roll-ups and validate system accuracy.
- Monitor cost allocation and budget compliance.
- Collaborate with production teams to ensure accurate job costing.
- Assist in developing and maintaining cost control procedures.
- Support audits and financial reviews.
- Prepare cost forecasts and budgets.
- Prepare journal entries and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
- Analyze cost variances and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Collaborate with internal departments to gather information and resolve discrepancies.
- Ensure timely completion of month-end cost accounting tasks.
- Maintain the fixed asset subledger, including additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation.
- Ensure proper classification and documentation of capital expenditures.
- Assist with annual asset audits and general ledger reconciliations.
- Prepare and file monthly and quarterly sales tax returns.
- Maintain exemption certificates and monitor tax regulations.
- Reconcile sales tax accounts and respond to agency notices.
- Manage vehicle registration, titling, and renewal processes.
- Maintain accurate fleet records and ensure adherence to state requirements.
- Support finance team initiatives, including ad-hoc analysis and special financial projects.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and financial regulations.
- Maintain clear communication with management regarding task status and issues.
- Maintain an organized and clean work area.

- Knowledge of GAAP and standard cost accounting principles.
- Experience with ERP systems (such as M2M or JobBOSS2).
- Advanced Excel skills and ability to analyze large datasets.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to participate in inventory counts, including standing, walking, lifting, and moving materials.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance procedures, and company policies.
