Job Description:

We are seeking a professional and detail-oriented Receptionist to join our healthcare team in a dynamic medical environment. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing administrative tasks efficiently. This role requires strong knowledge of medical office procedures and healthcare documentation standards to ensure smooth clinic operations and compliance with healthcare regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients warmly and manage patient check-in using EMR systems.
  • Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and handle billing inquiries related to Medicare and other insurance providers.
  • Schedule appointments accurately utilizing medical scheduling software and coordinate with clinical staff for patient care plans.
  • Collect patient information, including medical history.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations and manage medical records with precision.
  • Answer multi-line phone systems professionally, providing excellent patient service and addressing inquiries promptly.
  • Assist with data entry tasks such as typing, filing, and managing electronic health records (EHR systems) like Meditech or Eaglesoft.
  • Support administrative functions including office management, filing, and clerical support to ensure efficient clinic operations.
  • Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers regarding care plans and follow-up appointments.

Job Requirements:
  • Prior experience as receptionist in a medical office setting or healthcare environment is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology and health information management.
  • Excellent customer service skills with professional phone etiquette.
  • Familiarity with insurance verification processes including Medicare and other third-party payers.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and data entry (10 key typing).
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Experience working in dental clinics or hospitals is advantageous but not mandatory.
