Leading law firm is a seeking a full-time Legal Secretary/Assistant to join their Sacramento office. This position will support attorneys in the firm’s Litigation practice group on a diverse range of matters. Job Description: Duties will include document formatting and preparing a table of contents; running conflicts checks and opening new matters, proofreading and preparing documents and correspondence; client communication; entering and reviewing time entry for attorneys; reviewing and proofreading attorney prebills, calendar management, file management (electronic and paper), tracking client budgets, and additional general administrative assistant and office responsibilities.
Duties will include document formatting and preparing a table of contents; running conflicts checks and opening new matters, proofreading and preparing documents and correspondence; client communication; entering and reviewing time entry for attorneys; reviewing and proofreading attorney prebills, calendar management, file management (electronic and paper), tracking client budgets, and additional general administrative assistant and office responsibilities.
Job Requirements: The successful candidate will have a paralegal degree or legal secretary certificate from an accredited institution, at least 2 years of experience as a Paralegal or Legal Secretary, and experience in the following areas:
- Prioritize tasks/deadlines for multiple cases
- Legal terminology
- Document prep of pleadings, motions, briefs, correspondence, memos, and summaries
- Transcribe from oral dictation and written drafts
- Trial preparation
- Familiar with California and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure
- Proficient in E-Filing requirements for state, federal, and appellate procedures
- Docket and calendar, using electronic database
- Stable current work history
