Job Description:

Wichita-based landscape architecture, civil design engineering firm is currently seeking a Civil Design Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Perform engineering design, coordination with design staff with plan production, and construction administration on projects.
  • Performs design computations by hand and by computer software.
  • Uses experience, education, and judgement to make informed decisions.
  • Retains knowledge and builds on previous experiences to increase capabilities in breadth and complexity.
  • Produce computerized calculations including hydrologic and hydraulic modelling tasks for a variety of water resources projects including dams, levee systems, watershed & floodplain studies, streambank stabilization, storm-water systems, and water/wastewater systems.
  • Assist in the collection, monitoring, analysis, and design of environmental systems.
  • Conduct field investigations on various projects including but not limited to: dam safety inspections, hydrology and hydraulic evaluations, and levee inspections for our municipal, state and federal government clients.
  • Effectively communicates and coordinates with the Project Engineer in order to complete design tasks on numerous projects.
  • Make formal presentations to organizations, private industry, and government agencies.
  • Prepares quantity take-offs for use in construction cost estimates and engineering fee estimates.
  • Assist in the design of water, wastewater, and storm-water systems.

Addition responsibilities:

  • Water Resources team provides a multitude of services including watershed & urban storm-water planning, hydrology & hydraulic analyses, DFIRM & RISKMap studies, levee certification & flood control systems, storm-water master & business plans, transportation drainage, and use enhanced 1D, 2D, and 3D engineering methods.
  • The Water Resources Engineer position includes a mix of task management, technical development, client management, as well as team collaboration opportunities.
  • This position is fully supported by the entire Civil Engineering Department.

Job Requirements:
  • BS degree in Civil, Agricultural, or Environmental Engineering required.
  • 2+ of related experience.
  • Client, project and/or task management experience .

Knowledge of complex engineering methods and/or software including, but not limited to:

  • Open Channel & Watershed Modeling.
  • USACE HEC Programs (HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, etc.), Riverware, etc.
  • Storm-water, Sanitary, Water Distribution Modeling.
  • EPA-SWMM, PC-SWMM, Innovyze Products, etc.
  • Infowater, WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, WaterCAD, etc.
  • Groundwater Modeling.
  • DHI MIKE, MODFLOW & etc.
  • Other Specialty Modeling.
  • 2-Dimentional Flow Modelling (RiverFlow2D, FLO-2D, Flow2D, etc.)
  • Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) (Flow3D, Fluent, Telemac, etc.)
  • Experience or knowledge of Geographic Information System such as ESRI ArcGIS, QGIS, Manifold, GRASS, etc.
  • Advanced GIS experience such as Model Builder and advanced tools (ie, Spatial and 3D Analyst).
  • Experience or knowledge of programming languages including Python, C++, C#, .NET and etc.
