Summary:
An 80+ year old OEM supplier of components and systems for power generation and distribution, motion control, data acquisition, and cockpit instruments for the aerospace and defense industry is seeking an Electrical Engineer to will work closely with Solid-State Power Controller engineers and Mechanical engineers and be responsible for the development and modification of a wide variety of electronic technologies.
Job Description:
- Analyzes and decomposes customer requirements into design requirements while ensuring compliance with safety, redundance, and reliability requirements.
- Performs detailed electronic design, troubleshooting, validation, and qualification of power, analog, and digital circuits including microprocessor and EPLD-based systems design.
- Utilizing digital skills, will produce the required Built-In-Testing coverage and achieve the data rates and responsiveness required to interrupt faults and report information to the cockpit.
- Regularly interface with the software engineers while performing hardware/software integration tasks.
- Researches, recommends, and develops technologies, processes, and methods to meet both customer and AMETEK goals.
- Visit customers to make technical presentations and participate in design reviews.
- Prepares technical proposals and cost estimates.
- Has a good grasp of aircraft electrical system concepts and is capable of developing system architectures.
- Supports manufacturing during prototype builds and product transitions to manufacturing.
- Provides technical product support and troubleshooting as necessary to manufacturing, customers and end users.
- Provides design leadership, coaching, and support in the effective use of engineering practices to analyze, specify, design, document, and test products.

Job Requirements:
- Aerospace background preferred but not required.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience
- Works cooperatively in a design build team environment.
- Knowledge of and experience with DO-254 and DO-160 preferred.
- Experience with ST ARM-based and PIC Microchip processors is preferred.
- Experience with hardware and protocol aspects of I2C, SPI, RS485, CANBus, ARINC 429, and Ethernet is preferred
- Software skills in C, Visual Studio, MatLab and familiarity with DO-178C are preferred but not required.
