Summary:

A leading international law firm has an opening for a Conflicts Specialist. This role is responsible for processing and analyzing incoming new and existing client matter workflow requests and compiling relevant conflict check reports for attorney review. Job Description:
  • Run thorough and accurate conflicts reports in connection with the intake of new business or new hires to the firm. This includes identifying relevant parties, crafting accurate search terms, running searches in Firm and third-party databases, and filtering results for utility.
  • Compose concise, accurate, and organized reports of research results to lawyers and others promptly.
  • Interact daily with attorneys to gather information needed for accurate conflicts research and analysis.
  • Participate in the training of new Conflicts Research Assistants.
  • Assist in the maintenance of a confidential internal database of information about clients and related parties to specific matters.

Job Requirements:
  • 4-year degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Relevant law firm conflicts research experience is required.
  • Familiarity with automated conflict checking systems as used in a law firm setting.
  • Familiarity with corporate family tree research and the use of the internet for legal and corporate research.
  • Understanding of the complexities of business interrelationships in a global economic environment.
  • Ability to maintain complex and comprehensive records in a computerized format, and to learn new software and research tools quickly.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish close working relationships with the firm’s lawyers and staff.
  • Utility with word processing systems, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work well under pressure and prioritize multiple tasks.
