Associate Patent Attorney

Top Ranked International Law Firm is actively seeking excellent patent attorneys with at least 2 years of practice in engineering/computer science disciplines. Associates receive immediate client responsibilities with interesting clients.

Location: San Jose, CA / Remote Work Considered – office is a quick walk from many top restaurants, entertainment venues and a vibrant up and coming downtown neighborhood. They also have a brand new fitness center in their building with a full gym. This is not your typical law firm!

Job Description:

Job Function:

  • Following legal and practical developments in IP law and clients’ industries.
  • Conferring with inventors about their inventions.
  • Counseling clients on strategies for how to protect their inventions.
  • Preparing and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Defending clients’ patents against third-party challenges.
  • Helping clients when third parties have misappropriated their intellectual property.

Job Requirements:
  • 2+ years of patent preparation/ prosecution practice.
  • BS in Physics or an Engineering discipline or industrial experience in an engineering field.
  • Experience with computer hardware, networking infrastructure, or semiconductor fabrication preferred.
  • JD from a top-tier law school with an excellent academic record.
  • Admission to practice before the USPTO and the California bar.
  • Exceptional English written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills, a healthy imagination for problem-solving.
  • Practical understanding of how a patent makes a real-world difference.
