Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Manager to oversee multistate payroll for a large construction entity. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll management and accounting. This role is essential for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while maintaining compliance with applicable state and fedral laws and regulations. The Payroll Manager will work closely with various departments to streamline processes and enhance the efficiency of payroll operations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Utilize payroll software systems such as Workday, Paychex, ADP, and others for efficient payroll management. Experience handling multiple payroll frequencies.
  • Oversee data entry for payroll transactions, ensuring accuracy in employee records and timekeeping systems like Kronos and UltiPro.
  • Manage tax filings and payroll compliance across federal, multiple states and local jurisdictions. Complete weekly, monthly, quarterly and YE tax tie outs and reporting.
  • Collaborate with the HR department on benefits administration and employee onboarding processes.
  • Prepare journal entries related to payroll transactions and maintain general ledger accounting.
  • Monitor project wage determinations and adjust payroll accordingly to meet federal, state, and contract requirements.
  • Stay updated on tax regulations and ensure compliance with tax reporting requirements.
  • Provide support during audits by preparing necessary documentation related to payroll processes.

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field is preferred.
  • 5+ years proven experience in muti-state payroll management.
  • Familiarity with various financial software systems including QuickBooks, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, and other HRIS platforms.
  • Strong understanding of wage and hour laws, prevailing wage rules and certified payroll reporting.
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail for accurate data entry and reporting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments while managing multiple priorities effectively.
