Job Description:

We are excited to partner with our client, a small family law firm with offices in the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento looking for additional part-time help. We’re looking for an attorney to work part-time on all family law issues, including divorce, child custody, child and spousal support, domestic violence, prenuptial agreements and Marvin actions.

The position is a great fit for attorneys with their own law practices who need to round out their work hours or for caretakers who are coming back to the workforce.

Core responsibilities

  • Attend organizational staff meetings.
  • Draft declarations, legal briefs, and family law forms.
  • Make court appearances, either remote or in person, as needed. The Court appearances will be everything from quick status conferences and short cause appearances to Mandatory Settlement Conferences and trial.
  • Manage discovery and depositions.
  • Engage in mediation.
  • Work with forensic and other types of experts.
  • Work with staff and clients to negotiate written and oral presentations.

Job Requirements:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school; active license to practice law in California.
  • 5+ years of experience as a family law attorney. Deep knowledge of California family law.
  • No history of discipline with the State Bar of California.
  • No malpractice claims levied against the Client.
  • High degree of professional ethics, integrity and gravitas.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to use legal research software like Lexus and Westlaw.
  • Ability to create support calculations using Xspouse and the DCSS child support calculator.
  • Enough facility with math to read/create property division matrices, valuations and child/spousal support calculations.
  • Be willing to work in the San Francisco Bay Area or Sacramento region either remotely or in person.

Compensation is on an hourly basis and very competitive. There are no benefits. This position is 100% remote.
