Job Description: The Controller will be involved in establishing and maintaining fiscal control programs and accounting systems to meet the financial informational needs of projects and firm management. Key responsibilities include supervising all accounting activities, providing timely financial information to management and project leaders, and coordinating the preparation of budgets and financial reports. The position oversees normal financial activities such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, bi-weekly payroll, monthly profit and loss, and individual project cost accounting.
Job Duties:
- Establishes fiscal control programs and accounting systems to respond to financial informational needs of projects and firm business management.
Supervises and monitors all accounting activities.
- Provides timely financial information to management and project architects/department heads.
- Coordinate preparation of budgets and financial reports for firm.
- Direct and be responsible for coordination of normal financial activities including: Accounts receivable/billings \ Accounts payable \ General ledger \ Bi-weekly payroll \ Monthly profit and loss and closing of books \ Individual project cost accounting.
- Develop financial reports for financial analysis, forecasting, trending and results analysis.
- Provide current and historical financial data input to Management’s fee calculation processes as requested.
- Provide information to management; explain accounting transactions; resolve accounting issues and discrepancies.
- Prepare/oversee preparation of year-end profit/loss statements, cash utilization reports, overall company balance sheets and annually assist and work with outside auditors in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Monitor financial systems in place and make recommendations as needed for system/process improvement(s).
- Assist management with collection activities.
- Supervise accounting support staff: Directs activities of full-time accounting staff.
- Coordinates and assigns work assignments for accounting staff.
- Performs performance and salary reviews for assigned staff.

Job Requirements:
- CPA preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- 5 years experience in project accounting, or public accounting.
- 3 to 5 years Supervisory experience.
- Experience with ERP systems (Deltek, Oracle or NetSuite preferred).
- Proficiency with Microsoft software.
- Excellent time management skills and follow-through skills.
- Good analytical skills and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage information with a high level of detail and accuracy.
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks with many competing priorities effectively.
