Job Description:

A leading global law firm is seeking an experienced patent legal secretary to join their San Francisco office. The ideal candidate will possess 3+ years of domestic filing experience within a law firm or in-house legal department. Firm offers full benefits, team oriented environment, and a hybrid working schedule. Salary to $125K+ starting.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and filing of patent and design application documents.
  • Preparation of Office Action draft shell and client reporting email.
  • Preparation and recording of assignments.
  • Performs research using Patent Center and other reference sources. Obtain copies of patents, image file wrappers and other such documents.
  • Reporting to the client of newly filed application and office actions responses.
  • Open new matters and run conflict checks.
  • Check status of and look up information for U.S. and international patents and apps (e.g., using USPTO Patent Center and WIPO PATENTSCOPE, EPO Espacenet).

Job Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years experience working as a Patent Prosecution Legal Secretary.
  • Strong knowledge of steps involved in patent prosecution from application filing to issuance of patents.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Pro, Document Management, time entry systems, and IP Prosecution-specific databases.
  • Working knowledge of New Business Intake, InterAction, Intapp Time, Chrome River and BB Conference Scheduler software.
