Job Description: The Facilities Technician is responsible for ensuring that a building or facility operates efficiently and safely. This includes performing routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, and other building systems. The role may also involve landscaping, safety compliance, and implementing preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and maintain optimal facility performance.
Essential Functions
Equipment Maintenance
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on machinery and systems.
- Inspect mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in equipment and facilities.
Repair Work
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, including faulty wiring, motors, or control systems.
- Replace worn or defective parts such as bearings, filters, belts, or sensors.
- Repair HVAC, plumbing, or structural elements as needed. Safety Compliance
Safety Compliance
- Follow and enforce all safety protocols and regulations.
- Maintain safety equipment and ensure emergency systems (fire extinguishers, alarms) are functional.
- Report hazardous conditions or equipment issues to supervisors.
Record Keeping
- Document maintenance and repair activities.
- Track inventory of tools, parts, and supplies.
- Update logs and schedules for preventive maintenance.
Facility Support
- Respond to facility work orders and service requests.
- Perform routine tasks such as painting, light construction, cleaning, or landscaping.
- Ensure facilities meet operational standards.
- Assist with other tasks requested by Facilities Manager
Communication & Coordination
- Collaborate with other technicians, engineers, and contractors on maintenance projects.
- Provide feedback to management on recurring problems or necessary upgrades.
- Support team members by providing guidance on maintenance tasks.

Job Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED
- Minimum five years of experience in industrial environment.
- Relevant technical certifications or post-secondary degree desired.
- Experience with PLC programming desired.
- Experience with variable frequency drives desired.
- Experience with steam and thermal oil boilers desired.
- 2-3 years of Facilities Technician experience.
- Operational knowledge of manufacturing and facility equipment
- Knowledge of raw material hazards and safety protocols
- Safety Awareness
- Attention to Detail
- Proficiency in the use of hand and power tools
- Well-versed in low- and high-voltage electrical systems (a plus)
- Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic knowledge (a plus)
- Organizational Skills
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English
- Positive attitude
- Willingness to learn and develop skills
Physical Demands
- Ability to work a schedule of five full 8-hour workdays per week
- Perform all tasks safely and according to established procedures
- Lift and carry 50 lbs. or more as needed
- Work in a variety of weather conditions
- Climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and work at heights
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and crouch for extended periods
- Use tools and perform tasks in awkward positions as required.
Regular work hours are 7:30am-4:30pm Monday through Friday.
Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support maintenance or projects that cannot be completed during normal operation hours.
